After a lengthy trans-atlantic journey, Maplehoof finally arrived at my house in Ottawa. She was an excellent houseguest, waiting patiently for me to get my work in order before I could take her on a quick tour around the city.
After a short trip downtown, we stopped by the world's largest outdoor skating rink, the Rideau Canal. Maplehoof didn't think it looked very big from here, but that's because this is the very end she didn't look in the other direction. In the distance we could see Parliment. Maplehoof seemed very excited to see it so we headed that way.
On the way there we stopped by the Canadian National War Memorial. It was pretty neat. Maplehoof liked that there were horses in the statue as well.
When we finaly got to Parliment, we stopped by the Centennial Flame for a short while to warm up a bit. We fondly regarded the Peace Tower for a short while before moving on.
And then we wound up somewhere else and fondly regarded it again! Majestic!
Across the St. Laurent River, we could see the neighbouring province of Quebec. Maplehoof wondered if we could go visit, but it was already getting late and that was quite a far walk.
On our way back, we passed by the National Art Galery of Canada. Maplehoof thought it was strange that there was a giant metal sculpture of a spider monster in front of the building. I honestly have no idea why this is the case. It's a very strange statue.
And then we had a late lunch of beer and poutine. It was delicious.
Anyway, after returning from our little outing, Maplehoof prepared to head off to the mysterious land of New York, alongside a new companion I sent with her so she wouldn't get lonely on the way there. Best of luck in your continued adventure Maplehoof!
